Samantha Mitchell’s mother criticizes police after Logan Burnett gets life for the Ipswich stabbing.

Burnett, age 27, killed Samantha Mitchell. She was a mother of three. He stabbed her in August on Burrell Road. The attack was “cold and deliberate,” they said.
Samantha’s mom is really upset with the police. She thinks they failed her daughter repeatedly. She claims officers didn’t take threats seriously. “They didn’t even try,” she said about their work.
The mom must identify her daughter’s body. It was 27 years after giving birth. She had to bring a birthday cake to the morgue. The mom feels guilty she wasn’t there at the end.
Samantha’s dad will never forget seeing her in a coffin. Burnett took his daughter away forever. He also robbed her kids; they lost their mom.
Samantha’s sisters wore shirts with her picture. One sister called Burnett’s act cowardly, and she cannot stop replaying her sister’s death. She wanted to be a paramedic but now fears treating stabbing victims.
Another sister called Samantha her best friend. She feels a “hollow void” since the murder. Looking at Burnett, she called him a monster; she sees his act as barbaric and evil.
One of Samantha’s brothers feels he can’t recover. Anger consumes him completely because of this. Another brother feels emotionally spent and physically exhausted by this.
