Locals voice concerns over noise, crowds, and blocked views from the new observation wheel on Ipswich Waterfront.

Some locals near the Waterfront feel ignored, saying they weren’t asked about these plans. Residents are worried about crowding, noise, and blocked views.
The council wants the wheel in Ipswich, stating that event organizers should handle the talks.
Julian Minton, a local resident, fears it will ruin the quiet Waterfront. He wished the council had a public review and is concerned about noise and crowds.
Another resident, Phillip Stowe, agrees. He doesn’t mind the wheel itself but wishes the council had informed them sooner. The giant wheel opens this Saturday.
The wheel will stay until March 16 and is bigger than Felixstowe’s wheel. Plans took a year with ongoing talks, and twenty-seven open gondolas await visitors.
Jane Riley spoke for the council, hoping the wheel makes a vibrant scene. She mentioned the success of Illuminate Ipswich.
Event planners handle logistics and talks. City Observations Ltd. managed the wheel’s details. The council wants organizers to talk to residents to ensure a good time for everyone.
City Observations did not comment.
