Someone changed the Pleasant Row sign. It now reads “Peasant Row”. Some people thought it was funny, but other locals got really mad about it.

This newspaper told John Cook about the sign. He is an Ipswich borough councillor. John Cook removed the old sign and then put up a new Pleasant Row sign.

Crispin Kelly lives nearby. He thought it was a bit funny, yet also felt uneasy about the change. The street is near Blackfriars Court, where elderly and disabled residents live.

The Habinteg Housing Association runs the homes. Mr. Kelly wants vulnerable people protected. He thinks being cautious is smart and prefers a new sign for the street.

The street is near Shire Hall Yard and Smart Street. Luke Robinson lives there too, but he didn’t laugh at all. He thinks the vandalism is depressing and hopes the sign gets fixed fast.

The council wants people to report damage. You can email them about street sign issues at sheltersandsigns@ipswich.gov.uk.
