Ipswich Wheel Delivers Panoramic Views of Waterfront and Beyond
It’s near the Wharf Car Park, and City Observations runs it. You can ride it until March 16th, and it’s open every single day.
The wheel gives you cool views. You can spot the Ipswich Waterfront, and Portman Road is visible, too. The wheel is 144 feet tall, so you can see the River Orwell and might see ten miles far on clear days!
Tickets are sold at a kiosk. Kids pay £4 each, and adults pay £5. A family ticket costs £20, which covers two adults and three kids.
City Observations worked with the council; they planned this for a year.
From the wheel, see the River Orwell and Neptune Marina. Check out the Port of Ipswich, too. Twenty-seven open gondolas exist, which spin three times during a ride that lasts 10–15 minutes.
Some people aren’t happy. Residents worry about crowds and privacy, as the wheel sits close to apartments.
People can see into balconies and sometimes see inside homes. Residents said they weren’t asked about it, but the council says it’s the organizer’s job.
Jane Riley spoke about it, stating it helps the town and builds a vibrant atmosphere. She says organizers handle planning, and community engagement is their job, too. The council encourages they engage with people, ensuring a good time for everyone.
