Motorcyclist banned from driving after causing a crash on the A149 in Hunstanton, leaving another biker with serious injuries.

Ivan Andrews, 63, lives in Woodside, Lynn. The crash occurred in November 2022 on the A149 road near Hunstanton.
Lynn Magistrates’ Court sentenced Andrews on Thursday for careless driving resulting in injury. He had already admitted his guilt. Andrews drove his bike from Hunstanton toward his home on the A149. He passed many cars before the crash.
His bike hit another motorcycle head-on while he was on the wrong side of the road. The speed limit was 60 mph, visibility was good, though it was dark. Andrews could see clearly.
The victim suffered many injuries with lasting effects. Doctors had to amputate his little finger. Other fingers suffered several fractures, and his right knee broke badly, requiring surgery.
The victim’s statement was powerful, expressing that he’d never fully recover and might never feel his leg again. He quit riding motorcycles as a result of the incident.
Charlotte Winchester, Andrews’ lawyer, questioned the long delay to court, causing Andrews significant worry. She stated that he knows he made a mistake and that it was a lapse of focus. Ms. Winchester added that Andrews got hurt and stayed two weeks in Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
The court banned Andrews from driving for a year. He must pay a £200 fine, an £80 victim surcharge, and £85 in court costs.
