The rescue team needs some new volunteers. Do you love hiking and helping others? They want experienced hill walkers to assist people who are in tough spots.

The team helps those lost or hurt in Northumberland. The landscapes there are remote and rugged. They operate every day of the year, responding quickly to emergencies.

Team leader Jamie Pattison wants people from all walks of life. Do you love being outdoors? Are you good at navigating the Northumberland Hills? Do you want to aid the sick or injured?

Being on the mountain rescue team takes dedication, yet it is a really rewarding thing to do. You get to help people who are in need. You also make new friends and learn skills.

The team works with Northumbria Police and other services. They sometimes help other rescue teams too. They operate in Northeast England and the Scottish Borders.

New members get training for 12 to 18 months. They learn medical skills and rope work, among other things. Plus, they learn radio communication and search methods; you do not need prior training.
