The coffee bar echoes old tea rooms that once existed there.
Joanne Aspden runs the coffee bar. She left her job at Costa to open it, and her family helps with the business. They want to sell local ingredients, and prices will be lower than other stores.
Joanne wants to bring back old Accrington. The shop has a vintage theme, with a grandfather clock decorating the space. People donated vintage items, and some items belonged to grandmothers. Customers remember former tea rooms.
The coffee bar uses local Blackburn coffee. Everything is made locally and fresh. The menu now has hot drinks and snacks, and a Whalley bakery makes the treats. Cold drinks are coming in the summer, and afternoon tea should arrive in March.
Shahed Mahmood and Stacey Walsh attended, and they liked the food, drinks, and decor, which features vintage items. A grandfather clock and teapots decorate the space. The TV show Friends inspired Joanne.
Stacey supports local businesses, and she liked the friendly and warm feel. The coffee bar creates community spirit and is accessible to everyone, she added. Stacey thinks it is perfect for Accrington.
Shahed raved about the coffee, calling it “out of this world.” He finds it a nice and quiet spot, making it a great place for coffee.
