Keith McKay was sentenced to 150 days for shoplifting, drug possession, and assaulting an officer in Margate.

They saw McKay with bags on High Street in Margate Saturday morning. Police wanted him for some thefts. He quickly ran from the spot. Officers chased and stopped him nearby.
They searched him and seized the bags. The bags had stolen items inside: meat, fish, cheese, and laundry items. A power tool from Marks & Spencer was also there. Labels were gone, hinting they were stolen.
McKay said the bags held his things. He asked to drop them at a friend’s place. Police refused his odd request. They found class C drugs in his pocket then.
Officers arrested McKay. He kicked at them and even tried to bite a police officer on the way to the station. The next day, they charged him.
He went to court in Margate on Monday. McKay admitted to theft from stores in Westwood from February 13-22nd. He also admitted to drug possession and pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer.
He received 150 days in jail. He must pay for the stolen goods, too. Inspector Matthew Vick commented on the case, saying they catch thieves quickly.
Shoplifting hurts businesses and the public. McKay went to jail fast!
