Decathlon is closing its Broadstairs branch, the sole store in Kent, after three years. Final day: February 17.

Company leaders reviewed their shop network and said it would enhance the customer experience. Decathlon called this closure a hard decision. The Broadstairs branch opened in summer 2021.
People in Kent must travel to Essex, as West Thurrock has the closest Decathlon. It’s near Lakeside, at the Tunnel Estate Retail Park. A company spokesperson made a statement.
They modernized some UK stores last year; this aimed to improve the customer experience more. It is not known how many jobs will be impacted.
Decathlon will support their team members and offer new roles if workers want them. Customers can get deliveries to their homes and can use local pick-up points too.
Decathlon took over the site back in 2021, on July 15. The site covers twelve thousand square feet and included a bike repair workshop as well.
This store was inside a Tesco supermarket. The first was in Wales; it was Decathlon Culverhouse Cross. The company began in 1976 and they now have 2,080 stores in 56 different countries.
