A court decided on holding two suspects for 21 days. This allows police to keep investigating a Scottish businessman’s death in Kenya. Alex Mutua Kithuka and Albunus Mutinda Nzioki appeared in court in Milimani on Monday, regarding Campbell Scott’s death.

Mr. Scott was probably from Dunfermline, Fife. People last saw him on February 16 when he went to a JW Marriot Hotel conference in Nairobi. Police said he left with an unknown man and they took a taxi to a Nairobi residential area together.

Days later, his body turned up in a pineapple sack in a forest, 66 miles southeast of Nairobi. A police spokesperson called it a terrible crime. The homicide unit investigates the case as part of Kenya’s Criminal Investigations.

Thomas Maitha spoke to a Kenyan newspaper. He said Mr. Scott’s hands were tied behind him and the man seemed tortured. The body was in poor condition and Maitha felt they needed to take the matter seriously.

Mr. Scott worked a senior role at Fico, a credit firm. Fico’s website says he was based in London. A Fico spokesperson shared their sadness and said Campbell was a leader at Fico. They will miss his humor and kindness and are thinking of his family.

The FCDO is helping Mr. Scott’s family and talking with Kenyan authorities. They are working together on the case.
