This story is about a terrible crime. Mark Donovan murdered his ex-wife, Elise Mason. He was 39; she was 37. The attack happened in their old home in Chelmsford. Donovan inflicted seventy injuries on her.

He strangled Elise. He also beat her up with a lamp. After, he threw her phone in a pub toilet. He drank at the bar, then went to two massage parlors before ordering Chinese food later.

Donovan took the food to the police and confessed he had done “the worst thing.” He ate noodles while talking to police. A trial at Chelmsford Crown Court followed, where he was found guilty of murder.

They were friends before dating in 2010 and split in 2022. Donovan could not accept it. He sent her many texts and calls, trying to control her. Elise went to his house on April 25, 2023.

Two hours passed, then Donovan left with her phone and card. Elise was found dead by her front door, still wearing her coat and shoes.

Donovan claimed innocence due to a mental issue and alleged Elise abused him. The jury did not believe him; they deliberated for only three hours. His sentencing is scheduled for tomorrow.

Detective Inspector James Holmes spoke out, expressing sympathy for Elise’s family. He especially mentioned her two children, who tragically lost their mother. Holmes described Donovan as dangerous.

Holmes stated that Donovan could not accept the breakup, killing her in a rage. Then, he had a drink, massage, and food. Holmes concluded that he will spend his life in prison.
