The Malls in Basingstoke spread joy with a week of random acts of kindness, surprising over 530 shoppers.

The Malls’ “Kindness Crew” wore pink and blue. They surprised over 530 people during half-term by offering simple, kind gestures.
They had a free ice cream cart, offering different flavors to shoppers. Rob Morris, the acting center manager, said they enjoyed Kindness Week. Morris noticed the positive impact of small acts making a big difference.
On the first day, they gave out tulips provided by Nicola Florist. One woman said it brightened her day because she had been feeling sick.
The next day, an ice cream cart arrived holding strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla ice cream. People enjoyed the free treats, and the timing was perfect with the sun out.
A balloon artist made fun shapes, creating balloon animals in the center. People asked for dogs, monkeys and dinosaurs during this event.
The Malls gave out positive messages saying “Be kind, today and every day”. They also handed out free drink tokens redeemable at Costa Coffee.
On the last day, they gave out gift cards provided by Primark, Boots and Sainsbury’s. One person shared on Facebook that it made her happy.
They also gifted items from The Works, including Peppa Pig sticker books, storybooks and “Kind” pens. The gifts were given out fast!
They hope to do similar events again to improve the shopping experience.
