A King’s Lynn shoplifter seeks to reform after stealing a trolley of groceries from Morrisons, citing personal struggles.

Donatas is 40 years old and lives on Sir Lewis Street. He showed up in court last Thursday and admitted to the theft. CCTV saw him filling the trolley.
The trolley held about £100 worth of food. Donatas tried to leave through the tills, but security stopped him at the door. Police then arrived and arrested him, recovering the groceries.
Donatas has stolen things before, with 26 prior theft offenses. He was jailed last September for shoplifting, having shoplifted four separate times.
His lawyer, Charlotte Winchester, spoke in court, saying Donatas spent two weeks in jail for this theft and that the theft wasn’t planned well.
Charlotte told the court about the phone call. Donatas was upset after talking to his sister, and she said mean things to him and made claims. He was distraught during the theft.
Donatas feels bad about what he did and is sorry he stole the groceries. He stopped drinking alcohol last July and has sought help for his addiction.
His caseworker described him to the court, saying he’s a nice man who wants to change his life. The court fined Donatas £440 and ordered him to pay £176 and £85.
