A Kinloss Barracks soldier received a three and a half year driving ban after driving drunk and resisting police.

Cameron Stone is 21 years old. He is a sapper at Kinloss Barracks. He went to court in Elgin and pleaded guilty to two charges. He drove drunk and also interfered with police; his arrest happened because of this.
Someone saw Stone leave The Carlton Hotel in Forres around 10:20 p.m. on August 11th last year. The person thought Stone seemed drunk, so they watched him drive away. He got to Kinloss Barracks at 10:30 p.m.
A duty officer let Stone enter. The officer suspected drinking and told him to return to the guard room. Police arrived around 12:30 a.m. and did a breath test. Stone failed the test.
Officers tried to arrest him, but Stone flailed his arms and fell. They restrained him in the police car. Stone admitted he was very drunk.
Stone’s lawyer, Grant Daglish, spoke in court and said Stone might lose his job. Stone knows his actions were wrong and apologized for what happened. Stone is not from northeast Scotland. He drank a lot to cope with loneliness, missing his family and friends very much.
The sheriff gave Stone the three and a half year driving ban. He also received a £150 fine, must complete 210 hours of unpaid work within six months, and has an 18-month supervision order.
