Kirkstall Neighbourhood Plan Launches Further Consultation

Hey, Kirkstall folks can shape the future! They can influence new buildings and also decide how local funds get spent.

The Kirkstall Neighbourhood Forum is working hard to create a plan for Kirkstall. This plan will address important local issues and looks ahead to what life could be in 2040. The forum has a “Policy Intentions Document” which suggests policies and land use ideas. They want feedback on this document, which they revised after initial feedback last year.

John Liversedge spoke about the plan’s goal: sustainable development for the community, meeting their needs for years. He knows not everyone will agree, but all views will be carefully considered. This consultation helps create actual planning policies.

A referendum will approve the final plan, then it becomes part of Leeds Development Plan. Leeds planners must use it for decisions, so your comments really matter. The consultation ends March 21, 2025. You can reply online, or paper copies are also available if you prefer. Email info@kirkstallforum.org for a copy.

Paper copies are at St Matt’s Church, available Tuesday mornings. Visit the New Burley Club any day: weekdays are 4pm–10pm and weekends are 2pm-10pm. Kirkstall Valley Development Trust also has copies, find them at St Stephens’ Church Hall Monday to Thursday, 9am-3pm.

Hawksworth Community Hub provides copies Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9am-5pm; Tuesday’s hours are 10am-5pm. St Andrew’s Church has copies too, visit on Monday and Wednesday 3:30pm-5:30pm.

Drop-in sessions offer more information where you can meet forum members, ask questions, and learn more. Visit Kirkstall Valley Development Trust at St Stephens’ Church Hall on March 10, 11am to 2pm. St Andrew’s Church hosts a session on March 12, 4:30pm to 7:30pm, and The New Burley Club is hosting on March 15, 11am to 2pm.
