Local apprentices in Lambeth are celebrated during National Apprenticeship Week with visits from councillors and MPs.

Claire Holland, Lambeth’s council leader, was there. Bridget Phillipson MP, Education Secretary, also attended. They met apprentices at Oval Village. Oval Village is a housing project being built by Berkeley Group in Vauxhall.
Lambeth has over 1,000 apprentices building careers in multiple fields. Nylah Achampong, 18, from Clapham, is one of them. She spoke to the councillor and MP, sharing her experiences related to apprenticeship.
Achampong expressed her enthusiasm for learning every day and enjoys the hands-on learning. Seeing the project come together is amazing to her. If she passes Level Four, she wants to achieve Level Six, which equals having a degree. This is a great chance for her.
Achampong went to La Retraite Sixth Form and is now a Level Four apprentice. She works in construction, design, and building for the Berkeley Group at Oval Village.
Cllr Holland stated Lambeth focuses on youth development and wants to give young people the best start. Working with local partners helps them achieve this. Visiting Berkeley Homes demonstrates that work in action.
