A disused pool in Lancashire was turned into a cinema over the weekend, attracting nearly 1,000 visitors!

Great Harwood Events held a movie event. Almost 1,000 people visited Mercer Hall. It took place over the weekend.
The event was free to enter. An old pool became a cinema. They added a big screen and seats. It looked like Hollywood.
They picked movies for everyone. This meant all ages could enjoy it together. The community readily joined in.
Movies included The Fall Guy. They also showed Paw Patrol Movie and Matilda the Musical. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was screened along with Venom: The Last Dance. People could see Smile 2 and Battle Royale, too. Plus, they showed The Wild Robot and The Little Mermaid.
People brought food, and local restaurants benefited from this. Free chips and drinks were available for all.
Mellows Lounge Bar gave away free pizza and sweets at several showings. Everyone loved this treat.
Noordad Aziz, a Hyndburn Council leader, said the event was very popular. The whole community participated fully.
People gave great feedback, and thought it was fabulous to see the space used uniquely. It was something different for the town. Local restaurants thrived; business was really high that weekend.
Aziz said it was memorable. Some young children saw their first movie and these children may become future directors.
