A Land Rover owner was furious when his £120,000 car needed repairs and the dealership denied his warranty claim.

Rob Kelly, 31, from Harrogate, responded by blocking the Vertu Land Rover dealership entrance with his car. He documented the entire event on TikTok, where his videos gained millions of views.

His 2022 Urban Defender had experienced gear issues and was previously fixed in January without problems. However, when he returned later for engine work, the dealership refused.

Rob insisted his car was under the three-year warranty, entitling him to free repairs. He estimated the required repairs would cost him £20,000.

Rob explained that the dealership refused the warranty work, demanding he pay for the engine himself. In response, he blocked the Land Rover entrance with his truck, declaring it would not move until the issue was resolved.

Dealership staff urged him to move the truck, but Rob refused until his engine was fixed. The dealership threatened to call the police, but Rob welcomed it and remained steadfast.

His illegally parked truck blocked the entrance and was difficult to move due to its size. Recovery trucks were unable to maneuver it. Police arrived but did not force him to move, and Rob remained with his truck.

The following day, Rob was invited to the dealership and offered free engine repair as a “gesture of goodwill.” They also asked him to remove the videos, which he declined, stating he only wanted his engine fixed as it was under warranty.

He expressed that getting the engine fixed was the least he deserved. He emphasized the importance of his car for basic needs like grocery shopping and dropping off his daughter.

He stated that he had been informed the engine was on order and that he would receive a courtesy car in the meantime.

Vertu stated that their staff had correctly interpreted the warranty and that they had worked with Rob and Jaguar Land Rover to resolve the issue through a goodwill gesture.

Jaguar Land Rover acknowledged Vertu’s comment. Police confirmed they responded to a call about an obstruction in Leeds.

Upon arrival at Sheepscar Way, police found a truck blocking a business entrance. The vehicle was moved voluntarily, and no offenses were recorded.
