Bird-of-prey centre launches fundraiser to relocate before 2027 rule changes, needing £5,000 to start.

They launched a fundraiser, needing at least £5,000. The center must build and move within two years; otherwise, they might have to close. New rules impact bird care.
The government announced these rules in 2022, specifying that birds can’t be tethered anymore. This means bigger spaces are now needed. The current site isn’t suitable anymore.
Consequently, Lavenham Falconry must build 24 new aviaries. Jo Crouch talked about these changes, noting that these rules match zoo standards now.
They currently have 53 birds and also a reptile house. It holds 50 lizards, snakes, and tortoises, many of which were rescued.
They need about three acres and prefer a rural location. The team has searched for three years, but the land search hasn’t been easy.
Some land sold to others, while other land lacked permits. They fund costs through events. They aren’t a charity, so obtaining funds proves hard.
Surveys cost around £20,000, and land and planning add more costs. It might cost £200,000 to start building. One site is near Bury St Edmunds.
They need money to investigate it. Fund-raising has started online. Pre-planning takes months. They want to move sooner rather than later.
