John Baron wrote about a transit system. The plan connects Leeds and Bradford. People gave feedback on the options. One route goes via Armley and Stanningley. It was the slightly preferred option.

A survey showed strong support. Over two-thirds want the tram system. The West Yorkshire Combined Authority did it. Three options link Leeds and Bradford, passing through West Leeds.

Option B1 runs via Armley and Stanningley. It continues to Thornbury, Laisterdyke, then Bradford. Fifty-five percent supported or leaned toward it. Option B2 goes via Laisterdyke, Pudsey, and Wortley. It gained fifty-two percent support. Option B3 runs via Laisterdyke, Pudsey, and Armley. Forty-eight percent supported this choice.

Some liked the Armley/Stanningley/Thornbury route personally. Others thought current transport was fine. People worried about increased traffic. Each option faced similar opposition levels, around 30%.

The Authority will use the feedback to choose a plan. They will then share a detailed route next year. Other factors matter too in the decision. Environmental surveys also affect the decision. They will also consider stakeholder input.

Nearly 5,000 people and groups participated. The survey happened in summer and autumn 2024. People wanted better connections to homes. Reducing traffic was listed as vital. Faster travel also ranked very high.

Tracy Brabin is the Mayor of West Yorkshire. She said the public wants mass transit. This is the region’s biggest project. It will help boost the economy. The goal is to start in 2028.

The University of Bradford supports the line. Professor Shirley Congdon cited many benefits. She noted it helps students and the environment. Rachel Reeves also mentioned project support.

The survey showed support for another line. This line would connect St James’s Hospital and White Rose Centre. Over three-quarters of responders supported it.

The Authority will assess environmental and technical elements. They will talk with landowners, communities, and councils. They also plan to engage with other important parties.
