A Leeds man, Paul Taylor, received a five-year ban on dog ownership for animal welfare offenses after a court hearing.

The court made him do unpaid work and he must complete 150 hours of it. Also, he can’t own any dogs for five years. He admitted to the court his wrongdoings earlier this month.
He admitted to hurting animals and caused “unnecessary suffering” twice. He also failed to ensure animal welfare twice. Police found the dogs at Paul’s house after a warrant and he was arrested after they checked his home.
Officers found three lurchers and a terrier. All the dogs had injuries needing treatment. Paul admitted he owned all of them and also said a vet never saw them while he cared for them. Now the dogs are safe and removed from his care.
People will find them new homes soon. Sergeant Andy Katkowski led the investigation and he works in West Yorkshire Police’s Wildlife Crime Unit. He said the dogs were in bad shape and needed vet care urgently.
He asks people to report animal mistreatment. If you suspect abuse, please tell the police. You can call West Yorkshire Police at 101. Find other contact options on their website too. You can contact Crimestoppers anonymously. Call them at 0800 555 111, or visit their site.
