Leith Chooses announced the winners of its funding program after community members voted online and in person last month.

These local groups will receive funds: Building Bridges, Leith Runs Together, and Leith Community Growers. ELREC, Citadel Youth Centre, and the Association of Ukrainians got funding. Hibernian Community Foundation and Dr. Bells Family Centre also received money. Nepal Scotland Association and Edinburgh Remakery are winners too. Broughton Primary School Parent Council received partial funding.
Leith Chooses uses participatory budgeting. The community decides how to spend grant money.
Broughton Primary School wants a new mural. They requested £3,494 to replace the old one. The Nepal Scotland Association wants a fitness hub. They will offer games and sports. This promotes community and health.
Dr. Bell’s Family Centre applied for £4,950. They plan holiday programs for families. Twenty-three projects sought funds from Leith Chooses. The Association of Ukrainians needed money for their project.
Building Bridges requested £5,000 for a festival. It will have music, dance, stories, and food. Leith Community Growers need £4,990. They want a space for people to connect and learn. This will be the Leith Links Children’s Orchard.
ELREC will combine walking and crafting. Participants will walk, then make art using natural things. They asked for £4,469. Citadel wants £3,600 for “Generations in Sync”. Older and younger people will share ideas, using animation.
A junior park run may start up in Leith. They requested £4,800 from Leith Chooses. Leith Runs Together is a funding recipient.
