Council OKs remaining Leith Connections actions. A new bus gate is still under discussion for the traffic zone.

Councillor Jenkinson spoke about the plan after Tuesday’s meeting. He acknowledges that people have different feelings and has emphasized trying to find a solution for all, ultimately aiming to aid local people.
The project started late in 2023 and initial results appear positive. Nitrogen dioxide levels have decreased, and noise has also decreased within the area. Pedestrian traffic is up 20%, and cyclists have increased by 77%. The majority of residents support the trial.
Leith Connections will continue. This project aims to help the environment by improving conditions for walking and cycling. The goal is to improve streets and spaces for everyone.
Liveable Leith is very happy with the decision, stating they want safer streets and fresh air. The recent traffic zone has been beneficial, as have controlled parking and the tram. With more homes and cars coming, they promote walking and discourage driving.
