A man waving a knife caused a major disruption. Police detained him after 15 hours, reopening the High Street.

People posted videos online showing the man waving the knife. He yelled at people below him from the third floor. This all started around 10:45 yesterday morning.
Police, ambulances, and firefighters showed up at the scene. Pictures showed armed police near the HSBC. Police tape blocked off the entire area.
The police kept the area blocked for almost fifteen hours. Officers finally went inside around 1:55 this morning and safely detained the man. He was then taken to a hospital.
Lewisham Council announced that streets reopened, and people came home. So, the road is open again now. Traffic got really bad, with congestion stretching back half a mile down Lee High Road yesterday afternoon.
HSBC said the event wasn’t inside their location and that staff and customers were safe. People were mainly concerned about the road being blocked. Things are getting back to normal there too.
