Omar Wilson, 31, received his sentence today. He will spend at least 18 years in prison. He murdered Mussie Imnetu, 41, last August. The crime happened in Queensway, west London.

Mussie Imnetu was a head chef in Dubai. He came to London for work. Wilson attacked and killed him. Police found Mussie unconscious on August 26, 2024, around 11:22 p.m. He had a serious head injury and died in the hospital on August 30.

Initially, reports linked the attack to Notting Hill Carnival. However, police found Mussie near Dr Power restaurant in Queensway. This location is outside the carnival area, and the attack happened after the carnival ended.

Wilson was first charged with causing harm, but after Mussie died, the charge became murder. The court heard Wilson headbutted Mussie and then punched him repeatedly in the head, continuing even after Mussie fell. Wilson also kicked him in the head.

CCTV footage and DNA from sunglasses helped detectives prove Wilson killed Mussie. Wilson claimed he acted in self-defense, saying Mussie hit him with a bottle and harassed women. The judge called Wilson’s bottle claim a lie.

After the attack, Wilson went to a nightclub on Gaunt Street, across London. This happened soon after attacking Mussie. Wilson dropped sunglasses and keys when he fled. The DNA on the glasses matched Wilson, and the keys fit his house and car.

Wilson sent messages about the attack, telling friends he “crossed the line” and thought he messed up. He also said a “monster” came out and expected to go to jail. A friend told him to get a lawyer, and the police arrested Wilson on August 28.

Mussie was an executive chef in Dubai and worked at The Arts Club, having worked in London before. Mussie also worked with famous chefs, including Alain Ducasse and Gordon Ramsay. The Arts Club praised his kindness, and Mussie’s wife said people respected and loved him. His son said, “I love you.”
