Hey, guess what’s happening in Cornwall? Locals need earplugs! A lighthouse is making a super loud beep constantly. Longships Lighthouse is the culprit, near Lands End. It’s been beeping every thirteen seconds for a week.

The alarm warns ships about fog. Now, it blares even when it is sunny. People may deal with this noise longer. Engineers await a part to fix the fog sensor, and they then must install this part.

Gwennap Head lookout talked about it on Facebook and told officials about the noisy lighthouse. Trinity House knows about the problem too. They are waiting for parts to arrive soon. Nice weather is needed to reach the lighthouse and install the fixing part.

Local Carrie Snaden was happy it got confirmed. She thought she imagined the noise at first. The lighthouse was built back in 1875. It sits on rocks over a mile from land.

Keepers made a modest wage way back when, earning £30 yearly, plus free meals. They cooked meals right in the lantern of lights. Four men worked there in total, with two men working one-month shifts.

Big storms often hid the light at the top. Waves crashed and covered over the lights. The original tower got replaced in 1875. The current tower is grey and granite and is 35 meters tall now. No one lives at the Longships since 1988.

Trinity House is aware of the annoying sound. They want to send technicians to the tower fast and will find ways to reach it soon.
