Let’s check out some old news from Lincolnshire. We have stories from February 2015 and 1995. Do you recognize anyone?

Ten years ago, a blue plaque went up in Spalding. It honored Jimi Hendrix’s one-night stay, as he had played at Barbecue 67. About 100 people gathered for the unveiling that the Spalding Civic Society arranged. Nigel Wilkins and Elizabeth Sneath helped too.

Chris Thompson recalled the 1967 concert, when he was a student. The lineup was incredible, but tickets cost a pricey £1. Brian Thompson organized Barbecue 67, bringing famous bands together before he passed away in 2011.

Also in 2015, people saved a signal box located at The Waterton Arms in Deeping St James. Forty folks formed a committee and planned to rebuild it. Stuart Hall led the project, and Network Rail helped keep the pieces safe.

Scouts and Guides performed in the Deeping Gang Show, with about 50 kids involved. The show celebrated its 30th year, featuring music, songs, and dance. Ian Henderson directed it, as the first show was back in 1986.

Tyson Fury visited Spalding in February 2015 as a guest at a boxing event. Over 500 people attended, raising money for local charities. The event collected about £10,000.

Now, let’s jump back to February 1995, when kids focused on health at school. They did exercise and learned about hygiene. A dentist and other experts visited.

In other news, a Valentine’s Day dance occurred, and fifty people went to Pinchbeck Church Hall. They collected £80 for St Mary’s Church. Sheila Dance helped organize it.

Quadring school had amazing chess players, winning county championships. They competed in under nine and 11 levels, and earned runners-up for another team event.

Finally, Emily Dawson won an art contest, painting a house and winning an easel. Beazer Homes Central sponsored the competition, and she visited a housing development where the company showed them how they build homes.
