Three local restaurants gain Michelin Guide recognition, including Hambleton Hall and Hitchen’s Barn.

The Bib Gourmand comes from the Michelin Man; it means great food and value. James Trevor co-owns The Six Bells and is happy for his team’s consistency. They earned the same award in 2023 and 2024, and they also won twelve times before that.
James Trevor said the award is a nice bonus, though it doesn’t define their work because they always want to do a good job. The restaurant’s chicken and pizza are popular. A reviewer liked the food’s flavor, and they thought the venison was amazing.
Rutland is great for Michelin dining. Hambleton Hall kept a star for 43 years and they got two Michelin keys too. This means it’s an exceptional place to stay and Tim Hart owns Hambleton Hall. His clear idea has kept it a Michelin star.
Tim Hart thanked his team and Michelin. In 1979, Tim and Stefa bought Hambleton Hall. They opened the hotel and restaurant in 1980, and Aaron Patterson has cooked there since 1992. Michelin judges like the dependable cooking. Hambleton also has its own bakery.
Aaron said he’s proud of the whole team. Hitchen’s Barn in Oakham also won, run by Neil and Louise Hitchen. It’s been open six years, and the restaurant has won the award five times. Judges like the wine and seafood, and they say the prices are fair.
Other restaurants have Michelin recognition, including The Olive Branch, The Chubby Castor, and Prévost. Restaurant Auction House also receives recognition. Inspectors dine secretly for their reviews. They rate food quality, flavor, and cooking; they also check the chef’s personality. Value and consistency are also considered.
