Detective novels by LJ Ross top the charts at Hexham Library, with “The Shrine” leading at 37 loans.

“The Shrine” by LJ Ross leads with 37 loans; it’s detective fiction. “The Rock,” also by Ross, got 35 loans. Then, “Heavenfield” had 33 loans; these are all detective and mystery stories too.
“Bamburgh” got 31 loans, and LJ Ross wrote it. “Sycamore Gap” and “Angel” each had 29 loans, and Ross is the author of these stories as well. Next, “Cragside” and “The Infirmary” had 27 loans.
“Mothering Heights” by Dav Pilkey also had 27 loans; it’s a children’s comic. “Cuthbert’s Way” by LJ Ross got 26 loans, as did Eric Carle’s book, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar Eats Breakfast.”
Francine Prose’s non-fiction book, “Reading Like a Writer,” had 25 loans. “Fetch-22” by Dav Pilkey got 24 loans; this book is a children’s comic strip. “There’s a Dinosaur in Your Book” got 24 loans, too, and Tom Fletcher wrote it with pictures.
Finally, “The Explorer” and two LJ Ross books tied. Katherine Rundell wrote “The Explorer,” an adventure story, while “Dark Skies” and “Lady’s Well” each got 23 loans. Ross wrote both of those detective novels.
