Trewythen reopens in Llanidloes as group accommodation with beds, a pro kitchen, courtyard, and EV chargers.

Located on Great Oak Street, The Trewythen boasts a four-star rating and features eight bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. A professional kitchen, a huge dining room, and a relaxing living room are also available. This property also includes a private courtyard and an outdoor dining dome, along with outside seating, parking, and storage for bikes and walking gear.
A large public car park is conveniently located behind the building and offers four EV chargers. This historically important Grade II listed building formerly operated as a restaurant with rooms, but closed its restaurant last October due to economic challenges.
The Cambrian Training Company, the current owner, identified a demand for group stays based on booking patterns. They now offer self-catering accommodation at the property. Catherine Isaac, the manager, previously worked at the restaurant and is now eager to welcome groups.
Catherine explains that groups often booked multiple rooms, but the Trewythen couldn’t always accommodate requests for five or six rooms. Llanidloes offers a central location, making it easy for people to meet, and self-catering facilities cater to group needs since guests get a pro kitchen to cook their own meals.
Since the launch on Saturday, the Trewythen has generated significant interest. “Locals have given great feedback,” Catherine noted. Bookings include a wedding for August and potential Christmas gathering. Catherine believes it will help Llanidloes by attracting people to show them around.
The accommodation spans three floors. A suite is on the ground floor. Upstairs are seven bedrooms with either double beds or family beds, each with a bathroom. The rooms, named after local places, feature original fireplaces, reflecting their historical charm.
Llanidloes sits on the River Severn, near the Cambrian Mountains, and is surrounded by over thirty interconnected walking routes, that connect nearby villages. Pumlumon, the highest mountain in the area and source of the Severn and Wye rivers, is also nearby.
