Discover the least and most crowded times on the London Underground. Fares are also increasing soon.

The government wants key transport projects funded. Transport for London (TfL) Tube and rail fares will thus increase. This secures national funding for projects such as Superloop 2 and Tube upgrades.
Weekdays have busy rush hours from 7.30am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm. Travel at quieter times to avoid crowds. TfL says these times are 8.45am to 5pm. Weekends are less busy before noon and after 6.30pm.
Monday mornings are less busy, with fifteen percent fewer people traveling. Friday mornings are even quieter; twenty-eight percent fewer travel then. The Elizabeth Line is the UK’s busiest line, and since 2022, it had 500+ million journeys.
The Elizabeth Line makes 800,000 trips on busy days. Shorter travel times and fewer interchanges make it popular.
Prices increase at the busiest times. Peak hours cost more. Zone 1 peak fare is about £2.80, while the off-peak fare in Zone 1 is around £2.70. Zone 1 journeys typically cost more.
The Zone 1 single fare rises 10p to £2.90 from £2.80. Zones 1 and 2 daily cap goes up 40p to £8.90. Zones 1 and 3 cap rises most, at 50p, bringing it up to £10.50 per day.
