Begbroke is getting a new A44 crossing for walkers and cyclists near Spring Hill Road, improving safety.

The road divides Begbroke, and Spring Hill is on the other side. Accidents have happened there as people try to cross. People wanted this crossing for years, and the Begbroke council pushed for safety.
Work began on January 6th and should finish by February’s end.
The Begbroke council is very happy and glad it’s finally happening. The village will celebrate it at the hall.
The county gave money almost two years ago. It was delayed by supplier issues, and the design also caused delays.
Ian Middleton is a Green councillor. He helped with the crossing. Villagers signed a petition in 2021. He is happy to see the work start, offering safer crossing on a risky road. He promised to get it done, but it took more effort than he thought.
He convinced the council to fund it and also helped the parish council. He’s glad it is now being built.
The council asked about the crossing in 2023. They improved the A44 as well between Peartree and Cassington Road. They added a new signal crossing there, north of Cassington Road.
