A pub brawl in Lossiemouth left one man injured after a dispute over an offensive comment about a deceased daughter.

The incident happened on April 28, 2024, in Lossiemouth. Anderson drank with family before visiting the Brander Arms pub. Anderson seemed annoying to other people.
Witnesses said he interrupted conversations and seemed opinionated and confrontational. The bar staff noticed an argument brewing between Anderson and another man. Staff asked them to calm down and wanted them seated separately.
Alan Galbraith then came out of the bathroom. He told Anderson they were only joking around, but Anderson did not like Galbraith’s involvement. Everyone went outside after the discussion.
The barmaid followed to ensure no problems would arise. She heard Galbraith shouting at Anderson, and everyone then tried to calm both men. The pair went back inside the bar afterwards. Anderson left after finishing his drink, and Galbraith followed him outside after that event.
Galbraith returned to the pub soon and said: “I’m sorry. I had to hit him.” He said Anderson made a terrible comment about his deceased daughter. Someone called a taxi for Anderson quickly. Anderson’s wife found him injured at home.
He had facial injuries and could not walk well. Anderson went to the hospital right away. Doctors treated him for cuts, bruises, and a leg fracture. He used crutches for months but is expected to recover.
Galbraith admitted to the assault under provocation. The attack caused injury and disfigurement to Anderson. The lawyer requested a report for the court. The solicitor stated Galbraith denied making comments first.
He swore he never said what Anderson said. Anderson then told him to defile his dead daughter obscenely. Galbraith will return to court soon for sentencing. His court date is scheduled for March 25.
