Ollie vanished from Sheringham on November 19, 2023. Colin McCarthy, his owner, lost hope. Colin has three kids: Lexi, Sienna, and James. He didn’t tell them Ollie was likely gone. Colin wanted them to think Ollie would return.

A vet called on Valentine’s Day. The vet was in Swadlincote, Derbyshire. They said, “We’ve found Ollie.” Colin asked them to repeat it thrice. He was in shock from the surprising news.

Sarah Tait, Colin’s partner, wanted photos. They had many false sightings over the year. The vets checked Ollie’s microchip. It confirmed it was indeed Ollie!

How Ollie traveled 135 miles remains unknown. The route goes via King’s Lynn, Peterborough, Leicester. Walking would take two days. Driving takes about three and a half hours.

Colin drove to Derbyshire instead of a date. He picked up Ollie that Valentine’s Day. The kids were overjoyed to see him arrive. Ollie got lots of love that entire night. He sat on everyone’s lap to relax.
