A wall on New Works Road in Low Moor will be partly demolished and replaced with fencing after council approval.

They wanted to make the wall smaller, replacing much of it with a mesh fence. This change needed Bradford Council’s approval.
The council approved the plan, even with objections from many locals who didn’t want the change. The application stated the wall was unsafe and in poor condition, with photos showing the wall buckling.
Barbed wire sat on top of the wall for security, which the company said looked bad. New fencing eliminated the need for barbed wire. People sent over fifteen objections to the council.
One person thought it was good Victorian stonework. Another said it existed since 1734, calling it the Long Wall Side and a large part of Bradford’s history.
Others worried about the fence, thinking it meant more noise from the vehicle yard and fearing poorer views for neighbors.
Planning officers approved the work, though. They said the fence changes the area’s character some, but planners lacked control over the wall itself.
