LSCB Escalation Procedure

A child’s welfare and safety must remain paramount at all times. At no time must professional disagreement detract from ensuring a child is safeguarded.

Escalation is not…. a negative action or criticism.

What is Escalation?

Escalation is a process of formally challenging a decision made by another professional, group or organisation.Escalation procedures ensure that all professionals have a quick and straightforward means of resolving professional differences in order to safeguard the welfare of children and young people.

The purpose of the Liverpool Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) Escalation Procedure is to ensure that all partner agencies working within Liverpool have a quick and straightforward means of resolving professional differences, so that children are effectively safeguarded. The procedure should be read in conjunction with organisation procedures for escalating matters of concern.
