Posters opposing police showed up in Lurgan as officers planned community engagement events to discuss crime.

Carla Lockhart is an Upper Bann MP. She thinks nationalists conditionally accept the PSNI. She says they criticize any perceived imbalance. Lockhart believes every concern got over-accepted.
She said the RUC’s sacrifices were hidden. Nationalists wanted the RUC disbanded. The uniform changed, and they renamed it. Nothing satisfies their need for unconditional police support.
Lockhart mentioned Sinn Féin’s conditional support in Ireland. They want policing only on their own terms. The posters undermine policing, she said.
Posters were on railings at a community center. The police will give crime prevention advice. They will address issues in the area. Lockhart thinks order must be fair.
Eóin Tennyson, an Alliance MLA, also condemned the posters. He called them sinister attempts to intimidate. He said they target residents and police officers.
Tennyson stated that most people in Lurgan want progress. They want a shared future. He believes the poster campaign aims to divide.
His party fully supports the PSNI. Officers risk their lives daily for everyone. They will help build a diverse police service.
