Lurgan Rugby Club plans an extension to improve facilities, mainly for its growing women’s team. Plans filed; community benefits expected.

They want to build a new extension for their clubhouse, and the plans are with the local council now. The extension would be about 127 square meters. Neil McCartan filed the plans, and he works for McCartan Muldoon Architects.
The main reason for the extension is better changing rooms for the women’s team. The team is growing fast, so this facility update makes sense. The extension includes an entrance area and a small foyer. A referee’s room and plant room sit off the area.
Two changing rooms are planned for the women. Each room can fit 21 players easily, and showers would be at the back.
Last year, the club worked to get funding to improve their clubhouse soon. They raised money online using GoFundMe. The club aimed to raise £20,000 within one year.
The club is important to the community in Lurgan. They have successful teams for men and women, and they also have youth teams. They have more improvements coming and additional upgrades planned.
They want the expanded clubhouse used more often, and the improvements should make that possible. The club expects more income and are thinking long-term. Their aim is a better clubhouse to enhance the overall appearance. Community is really essential for the club, and the application should be publicly available soon.
