Council leader confirms Lymington Town Hall is safe for now. Long-term plans still uncertain after review.

New Forest District Council looked at options for the building, which sits on Avenue Road. Lymington and Pennington Town Council use it, as do the National Park Authority, the town’s police station, and other businesses.
Jill Cleary, who leads the Conservative party in NFDC, said they stopped working on town hall proposals. She confirmed that the local authority isn’t currently looking to sell it.
Cleary stated they considered options for the hall, but local government changes are now a priority. She told managers to pause the project, and tenants received a letter confirming they can stay. Leases can go beyond current expiry dates, but Cleary can’t predict the hall’s long-term future.
Jack Davies, mayor of Lymington and Pennington, worried the building would be lost. He wrote to Hampshire County Council leader, Adams-King, urging him to protect the hall’s future.
Davies called the news about the hall’s short-term future “great.” He says Conservative councillors wanted to sell it, aiming to build a care home and houses. Davies doesn’t fully trust them after reorganization.
