Major M25 closures in Surrey planned for March to complete highway upgrades. Expect delays and plan alternate routes.

National Highways opened Wisley Lane. They also built structures for safe crossing. Pedestrians, cyclists, and horse riders can now cross the motorway. The UK’s first heathland bridge is there. They installed its beams last month together.
The motorway shuts for two full weekends next month. This helps them safely finish the project phases. They did this on three occasions last year. Old bridges get demolished during closures. They also remove the demolished bridges.
Closures happen from March 7-10 and March 21-24. Closures start Friday at 9 PM. Closures end Monday at 6 AM. Slip roads from Junction 10 will also close. This closure happens between February 21-24. The A3 closes in both directions too. It shuts between Junction 10 and Cobham from April 11-14.
People headed to London should plan ahead. Concertgoers, sports fans, and holidaymakers might face delays. Allow travel time or find different routes.
Jonathan Wade spoke about the upcoming work. He’s a National Highways Senior Project Manager. He said it’s the last block of M25 closures. The scheme is nearing its finish.
He urged drivers to only use the motorway if needed. He thanked drivers who followed advice last year. They understand short-term disruption is unavoidable. This improvement benefits millions long term, he stated.
Months went into planning these closures carefully. Significant congestion and delays are still probable. Road users should allow extra time. They can use alternative routes instead. Road users must follow official diversion routes. Avoid satnav guidance on alternative routes.
The project is delayed until spring 2026 now. Daily improvements for drivers finish this summer.
