Human remains found on the M4 near Bristol lead to a full road closure as police launch an investigation.

Officers arrived at the scene soon after and found human remains. Avon and Somerset Police began an investigation to identify the person.
The National Highways website gave updates: the M4 closed fully in both directions, spanning junctions 20 to 22, which leads to the Prince of Wales Bridge. Also, the M48 eastbound shut down from J1 near Aust, but the old Severn Crossing stayed open. The M4 closure is for the police investigation.
A police spokesperson released a statement saying they are working to identify the deceased person and notify the next of kin quickly. The investigation will determine how they got there. The road stayed closed until early Sunday.
Police want to hear from drivers who drove on that part of the M4, asking them to share relevant information or dashcam footage. Call 101 and mention the reference 5225047292.
National Highways also commented, calling it a complex operation made harder by the heavy traffic and location. They asked for patience.
