The M8 will close near Glasgow Airport for over two weeks in March for essential bridge checks, causing traffic detours
Westbound bridge checks start March 10 and will last until March 13. Lanes close westbound between junctions 27 and 28. The westbound on-slip at junction 27 will also be closed.
Traffic will detour via Renfrew and Arkleston Roads. Next, use the eastbound M8 on-slip at junction 27. Then, take junction 26 eastbound off-slip to the roundabout. Finally, follow the M8 westbound on-slip.
On March 14, White Cart Road closes between Sanderling and Campsie Drive from 8 PM to 3:30 AM. Westbound M8 lanes also close that night between junctions 27 and 28, from 8 PM to 6 AM.
Southbound traffic on White Cart Road must detour via Sanderling, Abbotsinch, Arran, and Campsie. Northbound traffic uses St. Andrew’s Drive and Sanderling Road. Traffic from junction 27 on-slip will be detoured to Renfrew Road, Arkleston Road, and the M8 eastbound. Exit at junction 26, use the roundabout, and go west.
Abbotsinch Road closes on March 17 between Sanderling and Arran Avenue from 8 PM until 5 AM. Westbound M8 lane closures happen again from 8 PM to 6 AM between junctions 27 and 28.
Abbotsinch Road traffic detours via Sanderling Road, White Cart Road, Campsie Drive, and Arran Avenue. Junction 27 on-slip traffic uses the prior detour going via Renfrew & Arkleston, M8 east, off at 26.
From March 18 to March 21, bridge checks continue on the eastbound M8. Work hours are from 8 PM to 6 AM each night. Eastbound lane closures happen near junctions 29 and 27. Junction 28 eastbound on-slip also closes.
Traffic detours via Sanderling and St James Interchange. Then, drivers use the M8 eastbound junction 29 on-slip. The eastbound junction 28A on-slip will also shut. Detour using the eastbound junction 29 off-slip. Rejoin the M8 via St James Interchange. Take the junction 29 on-slip to continue.
White Cart Road closes again on March 24 between Sanderling and Campsie Drive from 8 PM to 3:30 AM. Eastbound lanes shut near M8 junctions 29 and 27. The eastbound on-slip at junction 28 also closes.
Southbound traffic on White Cart Road has a detour via Sanderling, Abbotsinch, Arran, and Campsie. Northbound traffic goes via St Andrew’s and Sanderling. Junction 28 eastbound on-slip reroutes to Sanderling, St James, then M8 junction 29.
Eastbound junction 28A on-slip closes, too. A detour sends them via the junction 29 off-slip to St James Interchange. From there, they rejoin the M8 at junction 29 on-slip.
Abbotsinch Road closes March 25 between Sanderling and Arran Avenue from 8 PM until 5 AM. Eastbound lanes close from junctions 29 to 27. Junction 28 eastbound on-slip also closes.
Abbotsinch Road traffic must take a detour via Sanderling, White Cart Road, Campsie, and Arran. Junction 28 on-slip traffic uses an alternate route: Drivers follow Sanderling, St James, then M8 junction 29.
The eastbound junction 28A on-slip also has a closure. A detour sends them via the junction 29 off-slip to St James. From there, they rejoin the M8 at junction 29 on-slip.
Emergency vehicles can still pass through.
