Council approves budget including council tax increase of £232.01 annually for Band D properties.

Band D property owners will pay more; they will now pay £232.01 each year, which equals about £4.46 every week. This covers council services.
The council tax bill has different parts. Essex County Council gets the biggest share, that portion is £1,579.59.
Essex Police receives £260.37 from the bill. Essex Fire and Rescue gets £87.57. Parish or town councils get £73.29.
For an average Band D home, the tax is £2,232.83. The council leader, Richard Siddall, made a statement at the budget meeting.
Siddall said the council invested in the district. They improved the BMX track and added new play areas. A new pontoon sits in Burnham.
One Maldon District Partnership helped a lot and improved community health. The council worked with Essex Police and focused on local safety.
The council leader likes the Chancellor’s budget because it gave another year of UKSPF funding. The council will match this funding amount, which will help the district.
Siddall noted ongoing financial difficulties and mentioned local government changes. But he is hopeful about the council’s work.
He said the council’s finances got better, which allows them to meet corporate goals. He said this was through hard work.
