Amphitheatre gets £85,000 upgrade including structure, steps and ramps at Promenade Park in Maldon.
Maldon District Council is spending £85,000 on it. They will improve the structure and strengthen it. Also, they are protecting the ground around it.
These fixes are really important. The work has now started, so the path is closed. This ensures the workers’ safety.
It also impacts some park activities. The Maldon Prom parkrun is affected too. They agreed a temporary route with Parkrun.
The main work should only take about three weeks. Parts of the amphitheatre will be rebuilt. They are adding better steps and ramps.
The council shared a photo of the finished project. The new design is more accessible. The “wings” on the sides are being taken apart.
They will then rebuild them strong. Drainage will improve during reconstruction. The new wings will look similar to the old ones.
Yet, steps will have better heights and depths. Ramps will make access easier. The amphitheatre is a popular spot.
When finished, safety and access will be improved. It will be a better place for everyone in the community. It hosts events and performances.
