Sam Staniland pleads guilty to animal cruelty charges in Suffolk and Essex. Sentencing is scheduled for April 10 in Norwich.

Staniland admitted he neglected some animals and was responsible for three Patterdale terriers named Scanal, Roxy, and Spud. He failed to stop them fighting wildlife near Hadleigh from March 2021 to April 2023.
He also admitted harming a protected animal in St Osyth, Essex, during October 2022. A foxhound suffered because Staniland let it fight a fox. He also admitted neglecting two black lurchers, letting them fight a badger during October 2022.
These acts violated the Animal Welfare Act 2006, and the prosecution withdrew two other charges. The RSPCA brought the case against Staniland.
Andrew Herd, who works for Emery, Halil, and Brown Solicitors, represented Staniland in court. Staniland will be sentenced on April 10 at Norwich Magistrates’ Court.
