A 63-year-old man died after an assault in Lewisham. A 42-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of murder.

Emergency crews got there fast and found a 63-year-old man hurt badly with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he died later in the hospital, and the police told his family what happened.
The police think it started at a pub called The Watch House where some kind of fight occurred that resulted in someone getting hurt. Following the incident, police caught a 42-year-old guy close by who they think murdered the man. He is still locked up at a police station in South London.
A police chief, Craig Magee, spoke up, urging anyone who saw anything at the pub or on Lewisham High Street to come forward. Police stayed all night gathering clues, and you will see more police in the area today.
Magee knows people worry about stuff like this, but they have a suspect and don’t think others are in danger. The police ask for help; if you know anything, call 101 and quote the code CAD 6267/01Mar. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
