A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after an assault in Swindon, leaving a man in his sixties seriously injured.
Someone got seriously hurt in an attack. An air ambulance showed up and landed in Faringdon Road GWR Park. They drove the team to the scene fast.
The police also went to the scene. The victim was a man in his sixties, whose leg/ankle was badly injured, requiring hospitalization.
The police caught someone and later charged a man with a crime: grievous bodily harm with intent. This is a very serious charge.
Matthew McKechnie, 39, was charged and has no permanent address currently. He was in court on February 7 in Swindon and got bail, but he must return.
He needs to be in court again on March 7, 2025, at Swindon Crown Court. The police gave a statement after making the arrest.
Police said they got a call detailing an assault on the Parade. The call came on January 29 at 1:25 PM, reporting the victim was badly hurt.
The man’s leg or ankle took severe damage, and he went to the hospital immediately. Police arrested a man, age 38, as a suspect and arrested him quickly.
The police thought he caused grievous bodily harm and questioned the man while he was in custody. Police want to hear from witnesses.
