A driver is charged after a high speed police chase that ended in St Helens damaging multiple cars.

An unmarked police car saw the grey Jaguar. The officers signaled for the driver to halt, but he reportedly ignored them. The Jaguar then ran a red light really fast.
The Jaguar reportedly hit a Vauxhall Astra on the linkway section. Police tried to stop the Jaguar near Rainhill Stoops, close to the M62 junction.
The Jaguar damaged itself during this whole thing. Police said it went onto the pavement and passed cars before stopping. Officers finally stopped the vehicle, and they arrested the driver afterward.
Police have charged Gary Austin, who is 36 and lives on Spindle Close in Liverpool. The charges relate to this whole incident. Gary Austin faces a dangerous driving charge and is also charged with not stopping for police. Plus, he faces two charges for test refusal related to preliminary tests.
Additionally, Austin is charged with driving unlicensed and without insurance. He refused to provide a breath sample, and he also wouldn’t sample for a drug test for Class A drugs.
They held him in custody overnight and he appeared at Wirral Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to face all those charges.
