Okay, listen to this crazy story from court. A man named Reece Bruns is on trial. They say he murdered Kyle Marshall in a park. Bruns says he didn’t expect to see Marshall that night, and he also claims he didn’t plan to use a knife.

The prosecution thinks Bruns stabbed Marshall with a machete. They claim a 16-year-old gave Bruns the machete at Wellhead Park in Bourne on June 26. However, Bruns says there was no plan to fight Marshall.

Bruns denies they planned this encounter because Marshall was coming. The prosecution says Marshall sought Bruns after a beer festival incident that occurred three weeks prior. Bruns told the jury, “I wasn’t expecting to see him,” and added, “I was just intending to go home.”

A lawyer asked if Bruns asked the teen to take the knife home. Bruns responded, “I can’t remember.” They questioned if he told the teen it was illegal to have the knife. Bruns replied, “That’s his choice. Not mine.”

Bruns stated he doesn’t remember their conversation before Marshall came. Asked if they planned to fight Marshall with the knife, he said no, stating that Marshall was also armed with a knife. He added to his claims, explaining his threat to kill him.

Bruns denied stabbing Marshall on purpose. He said they both fell after Marshall threw the first punch. Bruns felt scared for his life and grabbed the knife from the 16-year-old, acting in self-defense.

Tragically, Marshall died there from a stab to the heart. Bruns and the 16-year-old deny murder and having a blade in public. The trial is still ongoing in court.
