A man was detained by activists in Greengates over suspected child abuse leading to police investigation and arrests for assault.
A group sought a man allegedly targeted by online activists who suspected child abuse involvement. A large crowd then gathered when police arrived. Video shows people around a handcuffed man. The man appeared to be attacked.
Officers tackled someone else to the ground. Shouting erupted. People circled the officers, and more police then arrived. More officers were requested for help.
Two men were arrested after this event. A 27-year-old faces suspicion; he may have sent sexual messages to a child. The other man is 18 years old and was arrested for assault.
He also assaulted three emergency workers. Both men are in police custody now. Three officers received minor injuries.
Police take these assaults very seriously and they are supporting the hurt officers well. Local police will patrol the area to reassure residents.
